Our Commitment to You — Adventure Cup and Passport Full Rules

Purpose

This document sets out exactly how the Adventure Cup points system and Adventure Passport work. We publish this in full because we believe you deserve to know precisely how your results translate into points, standings, rewards and lifetime recognition. These rules apply from the 2026 season onwards. If anything changes, we will update this document before the change takes effect — never retrospectively.

Part 1: Athlete Identity

Every individual athlete is identified by the combination of their first name, surname and date of birth. This three-field identity tracks your results accurately across every event, regardless of which team you race with, which teammate you bring, or which course you choose. Your Adventure Cup points and Passport stamps follow you individually and permanently.

Gender is recorded at registration and determines which Cup leaderboard your points contribute to — Men's or Women's — regardless of which team gender category you race in on the day.

Part 2: Team Categories and Divisions

Gender Categories

All teams race in one of three gender categories based on team composition:

  • MM — all male team
  • FF — all female team
  • MIX — mixed gender team

Cup points are based on your team's finishing position within your gender category on race day. MM teams are ranked against MM teams, FF against FF, MIX against MIX. All three categories carry equal earning potential — a FF team that wins their category earns exactly the same base points as the MM winner and the MIX winner on the same course.

Divisions

Within each gender category, teams compete in one of three divisions:

  • Open — no age restrictions
  • Masters — all team members must be aged 45 or over on race day
  • Family — at least one team member must be aged 12 or under on race day; minimum age varies by event and is specified in each event's race guide

Family division is available at Sprint Series, Adrenalin Quest and Coastal Quest events including the Epic course. Family division is not available at X-Marathon.

Division results are displayed in results and celebrated on the day. Division does not affect Cup points — your points come from your position within your full gender category across all divisions combined.

Part 3: Adventure Cup Points

Points Formula

Cup Points = ROUND(base_points × course_multiplier)

Minimum 10 points for any ranked finisher regardless of position or course. DNF and unranked earn 3 points flat. DNS and DQ earn 0 points.

Both teammates receive identical cup points based on the team result. For X-Marathon teams of four, all four individuals receive identical points.

Stage Race Handling — Quest Epic

For Adrenalin Quest and Coastal Quest Epic, your result is based on your aggregate time across all three stages — Friday, Saturday and Sunday combined. Epic athletes receive one points allocation for the combined Epic result. Athletes who enter the standalone Classic course (Saturday) or standalone Novice course (Sunday) at the same event are scored separately on their respective courses and are not ranked against Epic athletes.

Cup Gender Leaderboards

There are two Cup leaderboards — Men's and Women's. Your individual gender determines which leaderboard your points contribute to, not your team's gender category:

  • A male athlete in a MIX team → his points go to the Men's leaderboard
  • A female athlete in a MIX team → her points go to the Women's leaderboard
  • Both receive identical points based on the MIX category result

This means a man and woman who race together in a MIX team that wins their category both receive 100 × multiplier points — contributing to their respective gender leaderboards equally.

Season Accumulation

Your season total is the sum of all Cup points earned across every event you raced during the calendar year. All results count — no dropped scores, no maximum event cap. A DNF or unranked result earns 3 points for that event — you showed up and you raced, and that counts. DNS and DQ earn zero points.

Part 4: Annual Cup Rewards

At the end of each season, once results are finalised and the appeals period has closed:

  • Every finisher (at least one completed event in the season): 10% discount code for next season
  • Top 3 on the Men's leaderboard: free entry to one event next season + podium recognition
  • Top 3 on the Women's leaderboard: free entry to one event next season + podium recognition

Discount and free entry codes are issued via email to your registered address within 14 days of the season freeze date. Codes are valid for the following season only.

Tie-breaking where two athletes finish equal on season points: most events raced ranks higher. If still equal, shared rank — both listed at the same position.

Part 5: Adventure Passport

Stamps

Every individual finisher receives one stamp per event entry. Stamp type reflects the course completed:

The Adventure Passport — Your Lifetime Racing Record 16 March 2026
Adventure Cup documents

The Adventure Passport — Your Lifetime Racing Record

More Than a Season. A Journey.

The Adventure Cup resets every year. Your Adventure Passport never does.

The Passport is your permanent, lifelong record of every finish at every one of our events — ever. It doesn't matter if you race once a year or six times. It doesn't matter if you take a year off. Your stamps are yours forever, and your journey keeps building every time you toe the start line.

How does it work?

Every time you finish one of our events, a stamp is automatically added to your Passport. No paperwork, no registration — it just happens. You can view your Passport anytime on our website, where you'll see every event you've ever finished, your current tier, and any special badges you've earned along the way.

What are the tiers?

As your stamp count grows, you progress through our lifetime tiers. Each tier comes with real rewards:

Tier

🌿 Adventurer

1

Welcome badge — you're officially one of us

🥾 Trail Seeker

3

10% discount on your next entry

⚡ Quest Racer

5

🏔️ Adventure Veteran

10

20% discount + exclusive Adventure Veteran race buff

🔥 Quest Legend

20

25% discount + one free event entry per year

🏆 Adventure Master

30

Free entry every year + VIP recognition at all events

There's no time limit. No pressure. Reach each tier whenever you get there — this year, next year, or ten years from now.

Not all stamps are the same

Every finish earns a stamp, but the stamp reflects the course you completed. As you take on harder events, your Passport tells a richer story:

Stamp

🟢 Trail Stamp

Sprint Novice, Women's Classic

🔵 Classic Stamp

Sprint Classic, Quest Novice

🟠 Quest Stamp

Quest Classic

🔴 Epic Stamp

Quest Epic, X-Marathon 12hr

⚫ Endurance Stamp

X-Marathon 24hr

A Passport full of Endurance stamps tells a very different story to one full of Trail stamps — and both are worth celebrating.

Special badges — the Sampler collection

On top of your stamps and tiers, you can earn special one-off badges by completing specific combinations of events. These are designed to nudge you to try something new:

Badge

How to Earn

🌊 Coastal Explorer

Finish both Adrenalin Quest AND Coastal Quest (any course, any year)

⚔️ Quest Double

Finish Classic AND Epic at the same Quest event

💀 X-Warrior

Finish both the X-Marathon 12hr AND 24hr (any year)

🗺️ Full Series

Finish at least one event from every event type in our calendar

The Full Series badge is the big one. It means you've experienced everything we put on — from a Novice sprint to a full-day Quest to a 24-hour sufferfest. Not many people will earn it, and everyone who does will have earned serious bragging rights.

Why does this exist?

Because we want to celebrate every single person who shows up — not just the fast ones, not just the ones who race every weekend, not just the elites. Whether you've done one event or thirty, your Passport is proof that you showed up, pushed yourself, and finished. That means something.

And practically speaking — the more you race, the better your discounts, and eventually you're racing for free. We think that's a fair deal.

How do I see my Passport?

Log in to your athlete profile on our website. Your Passport, stamps, tier status and badges are all there, updated automatically after every event.

How the Adventure Cup Works 16 March 2026
Adventure Cup documents

How the Adventure Cup Works

Your Season. Your Rankings. Your Rewards.

What is the Adventure Cup?

Every time you cross the finish line at one of our events, you're not just racing for the day — you're building your Adventure Cup standing. The Cup is our season-long points competition running across our full event calendar each year. At the end of the season we celebrate our top performers and reward every finisher with discounts on next year's events.

The Cup is designed for everyone. Whether you're a first-timer on the Novice course or a seasoned racer taking on the full X-Marathon, you're on the same leaderboard. How you climb it is entirely up to you.

How do I earn points?

Finish a race, earn points. Every finisher scores points based on where they place on their course on the day. The higher you finish, the more points you bank. But even finishing near the back always puts points on the board — showing up and finishing always counts.

Do harder courses earn more points?

Yes — and this is the heart of the system. Every course carries a difficulty multiplier. Harder courses are worth more points, so athletes who take on bigger challenges are rewarded accordingly. But here's the thing — a Novice racer who shows up to every single event will accumulate serious points across the season. Consistency is a genuine path up the leaderboard. You don't need to race Epic to be competitive in the Cup.

Here's roughly how the courses stack up in terms of difficulty weighting:

Course

Difficulty

X-Marathon 24hr

★★★★★

X-Marathon 12hr / Quest Epic

★★★★

Quest Classic

★★★

Quest Novice / Sprint Classic

★★

Sprint Novice / Women's Classic

★

Men and Women are ranked separately

Men and women compete in completely separate Adventure Cup standings. Women-only events count exclusively toward the women's rankings. At mixed events, men and women are ranked independently. You're always competing within your own gender field.

Does every event count?

Yes — every finish at every event in the calendar adds to your season total. There are no dropped results and no maximum event cap. The more you race, the more you accumulate. Miss an event and you simply don't score that round — your existing points stay exactly where they are.

Do I need to register for the Cup separately?

No. Race with us and you're automatically in the Cup. Nothing extra to sign up for — just race.

What do I get at the end of the year?

At season end we finalise the standings and celebrate our top finishers. Every participant who finished at least one event receives a discount toward next season's entries — our way of saying thanks for being part of the community. Top finishers in both men's and women's rankings receive additional recognition and prizes, announced as the season wraps up.

Tips to climb the rankings

Race more events — consistency beats the occasional big result. Progress to harder courses when you're ready — stepping up multiplies your points. Finish strong — every place counts within your course. And bring your crew — the more mates racing, the better the competition and the more fun the day.
